Hay Hay
« on: July 13, 2011, 07:24:34 PM »
My name is Mandy, live in the Netherlands and I have two dogs,
a Yorkshire Terrier (9years) and a Cane Corso puppy (6months)
I signed up to learn more about the Cane Corso and and I'm curious
whether there are differences between the cane corso from other
countries (for example, visions of breeders)
my CC is Campo di Cavallo Macho

(my english is not very good, sorry ;))

Hello welcome

I think that individual breeders do have their own interpretation of the standard but that is also reflected on the quality of dogs they have in their kennel.  The kennel you have got your dog from, for me, is a kennel that has always struggled with correct type.  Another kennel may have a strong boxer influence so of course they are going to champion that look.

Correct Cane Corso - what is that, for someone who thinks something is correct someone else will say it is not.  If breeders all had a dog like say Bayron in their kennel I am sure that each breeders type would be closer to what is correct.  I have found over the years that correct for some breeders is what they have the most of in their kennel, which ultimately will take this breed further and further away from the true reality.  Once lines are polluted, destroyed with bad breeding decisions there is no magic marker, no time machine to go get these lines again in their pure form, to breed away from the standard and to breed incorrect dogs, will in the long run, destroy the true spirit of the word and perhaps even the breed Cane Corso Italiano.

You mean Bayron(LI9876880)? It's a nice dog, but (there you go ;D) i dont see him a een correct Cane Corso. For me the correct was Dauno.
But ofcourse a photo is different then seeing them live.

Which kennel in hthe Netherlands comes the closed to the standard. And wat is your own "champion dog"(just curious)

Like I said correct is what people interpret it to be!

I am blessed enough to wake up to a champion dog, but that has nothing to do with me - her breeder and the dogs her pedigree take all of the credit here.

I was just trying to answer the question you asked in as truthful a way as I could.

i think there's a misunderstanding, (sorry, bad english) I didnt mean to attack you. It was just another question.
I agree with you, there are a lot of different interpretations about de Cane Corso.
I find that very interesting, and there for i asked what your ideal CC is. So i can understand you vision, what you like to see. I'm not a breeder, but for example I dont like a CC with a lot of skin. But maybe you do, i just like to know your opion. (so i can learn more about the breed,  technically)
So how is she, you're "champion dog"...

I am lucky enough that our 'champion' is also what I consider to be true to type Cane Corso.

I have a very close friend who has a dog from Flavio Bruno, he is very much into the traditional dog.  We discuss the breed a lot, we disagree with some things but the thing we can always agree on is our Bora, as for me she represents that emotion that a good dog can bring.

So here you go, my vision, a vision I am still trying to create with the lines that I have, but this is not easy, to breed a dog like this is not easy and therefore the reason why I think many people settle breeding different is because breeding true correct type is a journey that those of even the most pure of heart for the breed, can falter at some stage to produce.

I hope this answers all your questions...

I hope you find some answers on this forum, you couldn't find on the Dutch forum.

It's not just for answers, I want to know more about the breed and look beyond the Dutch border. Gather a lot of information for over the world and hear other opinions.
While searching I noticed differences between the Cane Corso's here and abroad, and that caught my intrested.
So nothing wrong with the Dutch forum, I just want to look beyond boundaries
