It's great to be here
« on: January 10, 2009, 11:16:18 PM »
Hello All!

My name is John Capone and I live in the USA right outside New York City in Westchester County. Also - I have a house in New York further North in Putnam County with 16 beautiful acres of private secluded property.

It was fifteen years ago that I first saw a Cane Corso. I was immediately very impressed with the canine. Having been raised in a family with a German Shepard I had a strong bias towards the breed and felt when it was time for me to get my own canine it would be a German Shepard. However, that first meeting with the Cane Corso had a profound effect on me and I knew I had to devote more time to researching the breed. I did indeed research the Corso and the more I did the more I knew this was the dog for me.

At the time I first became interested in the Cane Corso - I lived and worked in New York City . I knew this was no environment for this type of dog and therefore I made a decision not to pursue one until my circumstances changed. Fortunately, they did. About five years ago I set up my own small business, moved out of the city and began once again to investigate the Cane Corso.

I found myself often frustrated and confused at times as my research progressed. I felt that I knew the only way I could really know the true Cane Corso was to go to where the breed had its' origin. With that in mind, I began to focus my research and attention to foreign breeders, particularly Italian breeders. It's too bad I wasn't aware of this forum, otherwise, I would have sought advice from other local members.

I have a good grasp of the Italian language and I found that the Italian that I knew and the English some of these foreign breeders knew made for some great conversation. After speaking and corresponding with many Italian breeders, I made a decision to pursue my interest in the Corso with Mr. Morgan Ivaldi. His kennel, Morgan Cane Corso, had a number of beautiful dogs, including Italian Champion, Social Champion and Champion Reproducer Simon. Morgan informed me that he was planning a breeding between Simon and Asia , a beautiful female from his kennel. Morgan and I began speaking on a regular basis, established a great repoire and I decided this was it - I would take a female from this breeding.

I waited 7 long months but it turns out that it was worth every minute. On a beautiful Spring day I went to John F Kennedy International Airport and there I met Zoe for the first time. She was eight weeks old and since then she has become such a large part of my life and those around me that I cannot begin to explain it.

I am excited and even relieved to be a member here. I'm sure this is a fabulous way to communicate with other Corso enthusiasts - advance your knowledge of the breed - and make some new friends. I look forward to meeting you.

john

Welcome John.

You should make it down to Matamoras, PA for the 2009 CCAA Nationals in April.
There you can meet lots and lots of CC enthusiasts.

Have fun reading and looking through this forum.
